In the Memory of My EverLoving Mum Joan Henrietta Teresa Brown

Happy Mother's Day!

Today is the 8th of March and it is Mothering Sunday here in the United Kingdom. We celebrate Mothers day on a very different day from the rest of the world. This was something Mum could not understand as Mother's day in India was celebrated in the month of May like the rest of the world.

I have many hapy memories of our family celebrating Mother's day growing up. Mum would get very excited opening her Mother's day cards and gifts from her two children. My sister and I would give Mum her cards and gifts in the morning, while Mum would cooks a lovely tasty lunch of yellow rice, chicken korma, with a salad at the side.

This year we will not celebrate Mother's day with Mum. Mum loved her family, her hisband, her two children, their spouses and her three lovely grand-children.

We miss you Mum and know that you are always in our hearts and minds, every day of our lives.

A special message to all those reading this Blog,Appreciate and love your Mother, Have a very happy Mother's Day and cherish your memories with your Mum for years to come.

Best Wishes

Warren

Today is Christmas Day!
Mood:  not sure
Topic: Christmas

Darling Mum,

Today is Christmas Day. Last night we all went with Dad and our friends to the Catholic Cathedral at Westminster, to attend the Christmas Vigil and Mass celebrated by the Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor.

It was a great spiritual experience and we all enjoyed it very much. Dad was also pleased to have shaken the hand of the Cardinal. We were all happy to have received the blessings of this special Christmas Mass at the Cathedral.

We are now preparing the Christmas lunch, the house is decorated with the Tree and the lights, we have also exchanged our gifts. We know that you are present with us always, Mum. We love you Mum and youare always in our hearts and in our minds.

BELOVED  JOAN

              By  Melvyn Brown

Take Care my love,

The winter years recede :

And though you’re gone

Ahead of me,

I too, will soon proceed.

It’s God who knows

The Seasons in our Fate,

And He alone

Will send for me

To be at Heaven’s gate.

Stand by me love,

God’s plan I must fulfil.

And let the time

I spend alone

Be done. For it’s His Will.

Remember love

The times we shared alone,

When you and I

Held hands and lived

A life of prayer at home.

Now with the Saints

You spend your hour in prayer.

Waiting for me

To be with you,

Your love and mine to share.

I know you are

Beside me every day :

To help, to guide,

To care for me

In your own special way.

A Powerful Prayer to Release 1,000 Souls from Purgatory
Mood:  not sure
Topic: Prayer

PRAYER OF ST.GERTRUDE THE GREAT DICTATED BY OUR LORD,TO RELEASE 1,000 SOULS FROM PURGATORY EACH TIME IT IS SAID

Our Lord told St. Gertrude the Great, that the following prayer would release 1,000 Souls from Purgatory each time it is said. The prayer was extended to included living sinners which would alleviate the indebtedness accrued to them during their lives.

“ETERNAL FATHER, I OFFER THEE THE MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD OF THY DIVINE JESUS, IN UNION WITH THE MASSES SAID THROUGHOUT THE WORLD TODAY, FOR ALL THE HOLY SOULS IN PURGATORY, FOR SINNERS EVERYWHERE, FOR SINNERS IN THE UNIVERSAL CHURCH, THOSE IN MY OWN HOME & WITHIN MY FAMILY, AMEN.”

St. Gertrude the Great was born in Germany in 1263. She was a Bendictine Nun, & meditated on the Passion of Christ, which many times brought flood of tears to her eyes. She did many penances, & Our Lord appeared to her many times. Her Holy Soul passed away in 1334. Nov. 16 is her Feast Day.

Mum's three Favourite Prayers
Mood:  bright
Topic: Prayers

My Mum, Joan Brown believed in the Power of Prayer, and her three favourite Prayers were

1. Prayer to the Blessed Virgin

2. Prayer to the Holy Spirit

3. Novena Prayer to Saint Anthony of Padua.

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin

O most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful in splendour in Heaven. Blessed Mother, Thy son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. O star of the Sea, help me and show me herein you are my Mother, O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to succour me in this necessity (make request). There are none that can withstand your power, O show me, My Mother, O show me herein you are My Mother. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us, who have recourse to Thee ( 3 times). Sweet Mother I place my cause in your Hands, (3 times). Thank you for mercy towards me.

Say this prayer for 3 days and your request will be granted. Prayer to be published

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit thou who makes me see everything and shows me the way to reach my ideal. You who gives me the divine gift to forgive and forget the wrong that is done to me and you who are in all instances of my life with me. I, in this short dialogue want to thank you for everything and confirm once more that I never want to be separated from you no matter how great the material desires may be. I want to be with you and my loved ones in your Perpetual glory. Amen.

Say this prayer for 3 consecutive days without stating your wish. After the 3rd day your wish will be granted no matter how difficult it may be. Promise to publish this prayer as soon as your favour is granted.

Novena Prayer to St. Anthony

O dear St. Anthony, gentle Saint, you have a special place in the heart of the Infant Jesus. I implore you to intercede for me in my distress and whisper my request to the Blessed Child….. You were able even in life to perform miracles, please answer my prayer and I will be eternally grateful.

St. Anthony beloved of the Infant Jesus pray for us (3 times)

St. Anthony wonder worker hear my prayer (3 times)

REPORT ON THE FUNERAL MASS OF JOAN BROWN

                                             By   A   Correspondent

“ One cannot imagine a home without a mother.  So, when a mother passes away The home feels very empty. It can never be the same…”

Those were the words of Fr.Pat Eaton, s.j. from his homily at the funeral Mass of Joan Henrietta Teresa Brown, wife of Melvyn Brown. Joan passed away peacefully on Sunday 10th August 2008 at Calcutta .

The funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s church, Ripon Street , where forty years ago she married Melvyn and in the same church had her children Sabrina and Warren baptized. Over three hundred people attended the service, from the present MLA, Barry O’Brien to the entire Mantosh family, her many friends, relatives and all those she had prayed for over the passage of the years.

Joan was indeed ,a woman of prayer. She prayed for people who visited her Home Of Divine Mercy and for all the petitions placed on the altar

In his homily Fr.Pat Eaton said, “ A tree is judged by its fruit. From the fruitfulness that has emanated from 3 Elliott Road in the work of Melvyn and the careers of

Warren and Sabrina, now well settled abroad, we know all the prayers, sacrifices, tears and guidance of Joan that went into it. “

Fr. Eaton went on to say, “.. behind every great man is a great woman. Joan made possible Melvyn’s documentation on the history of the A.I. community and his newsletters, his work with the Catholic youth in the Ambassadors For Jesus; his newsletters of the AFJ to promote Catholic unity ; untiringly propagating the devotions to the Divine Mercy and to Our Lady ; his work for poor A.I. families at Christmas and Easter….

“ Today we thank God on the passing away of a wife and mother whose prayers,

Sacrifices, tears and care have been like a fruitful vine bearing much fruit. She is now at home

with Jesus, Mary, her parents, family and friends where are no more tears, no more pain and no

more sadness but only the joy of a faithful servant sharing the joy of her Master. “

When Melvyn Brown spoke from the pulpit he said, ‘ I  know that Joan is with me and she will always be holding my hand as she did throughout in this lifetime and now

in her spiritual form. I am strong in spirit as she had always wanted me to be …”

The burial was at the Lower Circular Road Cemetery with the parish priest, Fr.Elias D’Mello blessing the grave and saying the prayers. Joan, Rest in Peace.
